DU Physics Students Shine at Asian Science Camp 2025. Six students from the Department of Physics, DU participated in the Asian Science Camp 2025, held in Thailand, from 31 Jul - 6th August 25. The camp brought together participants from 22 countries, offering opportunities to engage with Nobel laureates like Prof. Sir Gregory P. Winter Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2018 Prof. Dr. Drew Weissman Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 2023 and Prof. Dr. Takaaki Kajita, Nobel Prize in Physics, 2015 through plenary talks, dialogue sessions, and group discussions. In the poster presentation segment, the students showcased their ideas in groups and achieved remarkable recognition — winning the Popular Vote Prize, an Honorable Mention, as well as Bronze and Silver awards. This was a proud moment for Bangladesh and the University of Dhaka. The DMCB sponsored the travel cost for the students, making their participation possible.

On August 3, 2025, Veteran Freedom Fighter Group Captain (Retd.) Abu Zafar Chowdhury, psc, GD(P) of DMCB handed over a cheque of BDT 7 lac to the grieving family of the late Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam Sagar of 35 Squadron, Bangladesh Air Force, in a moment marked by deep emotion.

DMCB Powers Young Minds to Global victory : Cadets of JCC conquer NSS space challenges. In a stunning global triumph, Jhenaidah Cadet College has won First Prize in the 2024 “Living in a Healthy Space” Design Competition, hosted by the National Space Society (NSS), USA. Competing against over 9,000 students from 11 countries, their visionary project “Stellar Sanctuaries” captured international attention for its bold, futuristic solutions to food security, resource efficiency, and sustainability in space. The brilliant young minds — Cadets Aryan, Iftekhar, Rafan, Tashrif, Ahnaf, and Zeesan — dedicated over a year of tireless work to bring this dream to life. Their innovation was fueled by the newly launched robotics lab “Automatos 27”, backed by the college’s alumni association JEXCA. This historic achievement was made possible by the generous support of The Dhaka Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd. (DMCB), a proud patron of academic excellence that empowers young talents to rise beyond boundaries. This is more than a victory — it’s a bold declaration: Bangladesh’s youth are ready for the stars.
